DH Electrics Plus is an electrical business that works to a bespoke standard; a service which caters for the customers and their needs.  It’s important to us, to look at what you currently need in terms of your electrical installation and how this can be improved upon for the future, therefore saving you time, money and minimal upheaval.

The diversity of electrical services we carry are varied, from a consultation to a full re-wire, this includes: fault finding, active and reactive maintenance, the installation of a circuit to a full rewire, changing of consumer units, Inspecting and Testing of old installations (EICR) and new installations (Initial Verification).

What is an EICR?

It’s an inspection and test that concludes with a report as to the level of the condition of the installation and whether the electrical installation is still fit for purpose. This should also be carried out in a periodic manner.

WHEN RE-DECORATING AT WHICH POINT SHOULD I HAVE THE ELECTRICS CARRIED OUT?

Before you decorate, or have any plastering work carried out, the electrician should be one of the first trades called in to carry out their work.

I HAVE COMMERCIAL PREMISES, HOW OFTEN WOULD I HAVE TO HAVE A PERIODIC (EICR)?

Generally it is once a year or change of occupancy

THE HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS ARE THEY DIFFERENT IN A COMMERCIAL PREMISES COMPARED TO A HOME DWELLING?

Health and Safety is paramount, whether domestic, commercial or industrial.  The standard is stringent throughout. The foundation of H&S rules and regulations are the same however, it may vary from one situation to the next, depending on the environment in which the work is being carried out in.

IS THERE A STANDARD TO WHICH ELECTRICIANS SHOULD BE WORKING TO?

All electricians have to comply to BS7671 the IEE Wiring Regulations (current) and must have the current City & Guilds Part I & II.  In addition an electrician, no matter how big or small should be affiliated to a governing body, such as NICIE, NAPIT etc., which in turn would mean they are part of the Competent Person Scheme.
